Sports and Aesthetical activities

When it comes to sports, rowing is probably the most popular activity at Grennaskolan. It has attracted a growing number of students, and enables taking part in competitions and training camps in Sweden, Germany, England and Ireland. There are also sport-exchange agreements with other schools within athletics, shooting, football, fencing, tennis, floorball, volleyball, futsal, and horse-riding. A schools championship is held annually within several team sports, such as floorball, volleyball, futsal, basketball, table-tennis and badminton.

We also have aesthetical activities such as singing, dancing and theatre production. You may learn to play an instrument or form a music group and produce your own songs.

Gränna weekends for all students

But there is more than just sport. "Gränna weekends" are arranged four times each academic year. All boarding students remain in Gränna on these weekends and day students are also very welcome to take part. Many different activities and dinners are organised during the weekends so that everyone has the opportunity to get to know each other, and simultaneously become acquainted with the surrounding neighbourhood. The first weekend is an introductory weekend for many new students, where you get the chance to participate in a number of different activities. For the second Gränna weekend, the school usually arranges a film festival and a floorball final – with of course a dinner together in the evening. For the third weekend, winter activities are arranged, such as sledge racing, skiing competitions, horse-riding or other activities. The final Gränna weekend usually includes the school's annual musical and a number of championships within team sports.

What happens after the school day has finished?

Everyone must have time to do their homework when they come home from school. But a healthy lifestyle must also contain time to have fun with your friends and to regularly exercise. At Grennaskolan, you can register for courses in music, small-boat certificate, hunting, golf, driving, scuba-diving, tennis, textile design, drawing, scrapbooking, and much more.

Outings to the swimming baths, bowling alley, go-cart track and cinema are arranged regularly. The student café is open every afternoon and evening, and activities are organised in the sports centre four days a week. The gym is open in the afternoon and evening, and is very popular.

Grennaskolan also has an annual crayfish party, cake-baking, Halloween party with pumpkin competition and ghost rambles, gingerbread-baking competition, Christmas party, Lucia Day celebrations, and charitable tournaments. You have the opportunity to develop your interests or try something new. The most important however is that everyone finds their context, develop themselves and gain exciting lifelong memories.
